Old Canal Days Parade

Lockport VFW Post 5788 and its Auxiliary have been invited to participate in this year's Old Canal Days parade on Friday, June 19. We will be riding in a 2- to 2-1/2-ton Army truck for the parade. If you would like to be a part of this fun, please meet at the Post parking lot at 5:30 p.m. on the 19th. The parade officially starts at 7:00, so this will give us time to get there and be placed in our spot for the parade. Please sign up at the Post prior to this event if you plan to participate.

Poppy Days: May 23-24, 2015

Lockport VFW Post 5788 will be focusing on Poppy Days on Saturday, May 23 and Sunday, May 24, 2015. Volunteers are needed for both of these days. Poppies and containers will be available at the Post from 7:30 a.m. onward for both of these days.

For logistics purposes, it is best if you can let us know of your participation in advance. There is a sign-up sheet at the Post for time slots and locations. If necessary, you may call in your preference. If you cannot pre-sign for a time and location, walk-ins on the 23rd and 24th are always welcome.

Wearing of poppies to honor our fallen soldiers is taken from the poem
In Flanders Fields, written in 1915 by John McCrae.
